Creating a Dormant Trust Report

You can generate the client trust listing for files that have had no activity for more than a year. You might need to do this for year-end reporting purposes. This report is usually requested by your law society.



To do this:

  1. In Legal Accounting, go to Reports > Contact > Ledger.
  2. Click the dropdown arrow. The Ledge Options window appears.
  3. In the View field, enter Trust Listing and select it from the list of options that appears.
  4. Leave everything as is but ensure the dates are blank.
  5. In the Entries section, select the specific bank account or leave it empty to include all.
  6. Click the Play icon. Once the report is generated, click the Export to Excel icon in the top-right corner of the page.

  7. In Excel, use the filter function on column H, LEDGERREPORTLASTTRUSTENTRY.
  8. Click the drop-down arrow in column H and choose Date Filters and then Before. 
  9. Set the is before date that you need. For example, 01/02/2025 will eliminate files with activities on or after 01/02/2025.
