Q: I have deleted the GL Account 31079, but I would like to rename an account to that number. It is not letting me. Please advise.
A: The system keeps track of previously deleted GL's. It won't let you delete the 31079 account and then try to rename another account to that. The system will think it is already used even if it was deleted.
The key is to rename the existing GL Account to something else, example 31079.old, and then delete it.
This way it will allow another account to be renamed to it.
In this case, because you have already deleted the GL, you will need to reactivate the account, then rename it. You can then delete the new renamed GL. At that point the GL 31079 is available to rename an account to that number.
