DELETING AN INVOICE

1.  Is this file in the prebill queue (either Review Charges or Release Charges)?  If so, you will need to put a checkmark beside the transaction in the queue and then choose “Undo invoice” at the bottom left., then press process.

2.  Is there a subsequent invoice on the client ledger?  An invoice can only be deleted if it is the last invoice on the ledger.

3.  Has a payment been made on the invoice?  If so, you will need to delete the payment first, click the refresh button (green circle icon at the top right of the client ledger) and then the trashcan should show-up.

3a.  Payment does not have a Trashcan.  The Payment may be on a Deposit Slip.  Go to Bank Admin -> Deposit Slip.  Look in "Previous".  Delete the deposit slip (if other items are on the deposit slip you will need to create a new one).

5.  Is this invoice for a previous month/period.  If so has the Bank Reconciliation been done for the date of that invoice?  Has the GST period been closed?  Has the Sales Tax Period been closed? This may take a wee bit more work to get it deleted.

6.  Finally, is there an Accounts Payable transaction on the file but the AP is for several files, and one of those files happens to have a finalized invoice  or is in a closed period?  This may also take a wee bit of work to delete.

7.  the invoice was from a conversion so it comes up as Adjust Invoice and there is no PDF beside it.  This can't be deleted.

8.  Is the Accounting Period closed (Admin -> Firm -> Settings tab -> Feature)

That usually covers about all the reasons why the invoice does not have a trashcan.
