Legal Accounting has several reports that show trust activity and balances. This article helps you pick the right one. Use it when you need to print a trust statement for one client, list every file with a trust balance, show matter-to-matter transfers for the Law Society, or find a full trust reconciliation for a past month.
Choosing a Trust Report
The table below shows where to find each trust report.
| You need | Go to |
|---|---|
| Trust history for one file (same as the invoice trust statement) | Reports > Contact > Ledger, view ledger tr. Enter the File and leave Start Date blank. |
| All files with trust balances | Reports > Contact > Ledger, view listing tr. Leave the dates blank for current balances. |
| Every trust transaction, in and out, for every client in a date range (for example, for a Law Society audit) | Reports > Contact > Ledger. Set Trust Entry to In and Out and enter the audit dates. |
| Matter-to-matter transfers | Reports > Banking > Transfer |
| Trust receipts only | Reports > Banking > Trust Bank > Register, with Flow of funds set to In |
| Full reconciliation packet, including the trust listing | Bank Admin > Feeds and Reconciliation. Select the trust account, click Play, expand Previous Periods, and click the PDF icon. |
Note: Matter-to-matter transfers don't appear on the bank reconciliation because no money moves at the bank.
Showing the Trust Balance on Invoices
