Undoing and Redoing a Bank Reconciliation

If a bank reconciliation didn't close completely, old items can come back in the next period. Undoing the affected period and closing it again clears them. Use this article when cheques you cleared months ago reappear in this month's reconciliation, a past reconciliation shows as Opened again, or a cleared bank error is still being carried forward.

Undoing and Redoing a Reconciliation

  1. Go to Bank Admin > Feeds and Reconciliation.
  2. Select the bank account.
  3. Click Play.
  4. Expand Previous Periods.
  5. Click the PDF icon to save a copy of the reconciliation report.
  6. Click the trash can icon beside the period to reopen it.
  7. Mark all cleared items.
  8. Check that Statement Reconciliation and Journal Reconciliation both show zero differences.
  9. Toggle Close Period to on.
  10. Click Generate Reports.
  11. Stay on the page until the PDF has finished downloading.

Note: If you reopen one period, its cleared marks stay. If you reopen several periods at once, the marks for the last period you reopen are cleared.

Note: No audit trail shows which user undid a reconciliation. You can request one under Manage Profile > Feedback.
